Do's and Don'ts

Netiquette stands for "Internet Etiquette", and refers to the set of practices created over the years to make the internet experience pleasant for everyone. It is primarily concerned with matters of courtesy in communications and do's and don'ts in internet.
Internet Etiquette should be used in all areas of electronic means including email, chatting, blogging, forums, message boards, etc.

It is important to treat others with dignity and respect both on and offline. The following Top 10 Netiquette guidelines will offer some basic Internet tips and suggestions to provide a pleasant and safe online experience.

  • Use Computer Courtesy - Whether a person is sending an email, chatting in a chat room or speaking in a forum, it is important to be courteous and respectful of others online. Always remember the Golden Rule!
  • Use Emoticons - When communicating online, it can be difficult to gauge a writer's emotion. Unless a web camera or microphone is used, the writer's expression or emotion is difficult to determine. By using emoticons, the writer's proper emotion will be conveyed to the reader.
  • Be Brief Online - It is important to keep messages short, especially when writing an email or typing in a chat room. By using common chat abbreviations or acronyms, not only will the reader appreciate the brevity of the message, it will save the author valuable time typing the message. Remember, keep it short and be brief!
  • DON’T SHOUT - No matter what forum, writing in all capital letters is considered SHOUTING and is considered very rude. A word or two in caps is fine, but shouting is not recommended.
  • Pay Attention to Language Issues - Improper, inappropriate or bad language may get a participant kicked out or permanently banned from a forum or group. It is also important to remember people from other countries may be participating in the conversation and language barriers may be an issue.
  • Think Before Posting - It is important to note, what is posted online today, may come back and haunt the writer tomorrow. That silly or fun photograph posted on a social networking site, may keep that person from getting a job later on. Many colleges and employers are now searching social networking sites prior to hiring.
  • Keep Personal Information Private - Posting private and personal information in the wrong location can have serious consequences. Identity theft is a rapidly growing concern. Divulging too much information could give predators and those with bad intentions valuable information. Be careful where personal information is posted. If private information is posted in a group setting, read the guidelines prior to posting. Children should not post private information online
  • Obey Copyright Laws - Obey copyright laws. Don’t steal!
  • Help Internet Newbies - Be patient and helpful with others. Remember, everyone was a newbie once.
  • Be Aware of Cyberbullying - Cyberbullying or electronic bullying continues to be an increasing problem. Parents should talk honestly and openly to children about the issues of electronic bullying. Studies suggest most children do NOT tell a trusted adult if they are a victim of electronic bullying. If targeted by a cyberbully, do not respond. Keep all ORIGINAL correspondence, with dates and times if possible. If the messages are of a threatening nature or safety is a concern, contact local law enforcement as soon as possible.

  • By following these simple and straightforward guidelines, the online experience will be enjoyable and safe for all!

     Movie Review (ABCO01A)

Snow White and the Huntsman Trailer 2012 - Official [HD]

     http://youtu.be/2-UMNSVX7_I

Snow White is the princess of Tabor, daughter of King Magnus and Queen Eleanor. After his wife's death, King Magnus marries the beautiful Ravenna after rescuing her from the Dark Army, an invading force of glass soldiers. Ravenna — who is in fact a powerful sorceress and the Dark Army's master — kills Magnus on their wedding night after noting that men like him exploit the beauty of women and discard them. As Ravenna seizes control of the kingdom, Duke Hammond escapes the Castle with his son William, but is unable to rescue Snow White who is captured by Ravenna's brother Finn. Snow White is then locked away in a tower of the Castle.
Tabor is left in ruins under Ravenna's rule as she periodically drains the youth from young women in order to maintain a spell once cast by her mother which allows her to keep her beauty. When Snow White comes of age, Ravenna learns from her Magic Mirror that Snow White is destined to destroy her unless Ravenna consumes the young girl's heart which will make her immortal. Ravenna orders Finn to bring her Snow White but she escapes into the Dark Forest, where Ravenna has no power. Eric the Huntsman, a widower who has survived the Dark Forest, is brought to Ravenna who orders him to lead Finn in pursuit of Snow White. In exchange she promises to revive his deceased wife, Sarah. Duke Hammond learns that Snow White is alive and has fled into the Dark Forest. William, Snow White's childhood friend, later infiltrates Finn's band as a bowman to find her.
The Huntsman tracks down Snow White in the Dark Forest but refuses to hand her over until he knows Ravenna will keep her word. Finn admits that Ravenna cannot resurrect the dead. The Huntsman then helps Snow White to escape, promising to escort her to Duke Hammond's castle in exchange for a reward of gold. The two leave the Dark Forest and pass through a fishing village where all the women have disfigured themselves in order to escape Ravenna, and where he learns Snow White's true identity. He then leaves her in the care of the women but returns when he sees the village being attacked by Finn's men. Snow White and the Huntsman eventually come upon a band of dwarves, formed by Beith, Muir, Quert, Coll, Duir, Gort, Nion, and Gus. Muir discovers Snow White's identity as the only person who can defeat Ravenna and end her reign.
As they travel through a faerie sanctuary, the group is attacked by Finn's men, resulting in Gus's death. The Huntsman kills Finn after learning he abetted in the murder of his wife. William reveals himself and helps defeat the soldiers before joining the others in their journey to Hammond's castle.
Ravenna disguises herself as William and tempts Snow White into eating a poisoned apple, but is forced to flee when the Huntsman and William discover her. William kisses the now comatose Snow White without seeing that a single tear has fallen. Her corpse is taken to Hammond's castle. As she lies in repose, the Huntsman professes his regret for not saving Snow White who reminds him of his wife and kisses her, breaking the spell as she awakens after a second tear had fallen. Snow White then takes command of the Duke's army and leads them into battle against Ravenna.
The Dwarves infiltrate Tabor through the sewers and open the gates which allows the Duke's army to invade the castle. Snow White confronts Ravenna, but is overpowered. Ravenna is prepared to kill Snow White and consume her heart when Snow White stabs her in the heart instead, causing Ravenna to wither and die. Hammond's army is victorious. Snow White is crowned Queen as the kingdom is restored.

    2. The huntsman and snow white did not kiss or have a kissing scene. There’s no way of knowing who she ended up with! And did she know that the huntsman saved her life? b******* movie
      • Alie, my guess is that there was not meant to be a ‘happily ever after’ for Snow. She had a job to do. I’m glad I didn’t get to read your review (terrific, by the way) before I saw the movie (today)
    3. I totally agree with this review. I thought that SWATH [lol] was visually stunning. The costumes, the set, the cinematography and the colour scheme were all gorgeous. All I was blabbing about to my friend was how awesome it was from moment one. I can’t believe this is the director’s debut!
However I thought that so many aspects of the plot that they introduced were looked over. Like Ravenna’s childhood/her relationship with her brother; the Huntsman’s wife.. I thought they were all just brushed over.
I did feel all these moments fall flat.
Theron was wonderful, but I felt the drastic personality shifts were just unstable.
I loved that they introduced “the missionary” ,a name used to help my friend recognize him from POC; but it seemed once he found Snow the plot just ignored this.
The lack of a concrete romantic moment felt like the screenwriters were trying to say that the movie was more than just a kiss at the end. Like it was something bigger… but frankly there wasn’t enough in the story for them to get away without something like that. This really annoyed me.
The end was the biggest disappointment I felt, because it seemed completely unfinished. So many loose ends and everything left undone and a lot ignored. That was immensely frustrating.
Surprisingly, KS didn’t bother me at all really. Maybe it was just Twilight….. Not fabulous, but she didn’t have me laughing at her. She was fine. Except for the bit of muttering in her out of character and random speech. That bit was not a favourite.
There needs to be a sequel. This was not an adequate stand alone movie… but I’m very intrigued to see what will happen if there is a sequel.

What do you want to be

    radio.jpg
Foundation University at 63: what do you want to be? This year's theme as Foundation University celebrated its 63rd founding anniversary.

Four years ago when I first step on Foundation University, I was so nervous. An unfamiliar places with unfamiliar faces. But as days goes on I already build enough confidence to strive harder.  I personally choose my course, Bachelor of Arts major in Broadcast Communication. A field where I find my passion and happiness. I love being a disc jockey at our own radio station, DYFU-Greyhound 101,listening to music which suit to my mood, studying about principles and techniques of radio/television production and direction, doing speeches and making news articles (though I omit a lot of mistakes), handling cameras and editing videos and clips but most of all enjoying my life and having fun what I am doing. After all, this is all what I want to be. :)
